How Much Do You Need to Retire?
The biggest mistake in retirement planning is underestimating how much you need. There are two widely used frameworks:
The 25x Rule: Multiply your estimated annual retirement expenses by 25. If you need ₹8 lakh per year in retirement, your target corpus is ₹2 crore (25 × ₹8L). This assumes a 4% safe withdrawal rate — you can withdraw 4% of your corpus annually without running out of money over a 30-year retirement.
